Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has expressed interest in making a Transformers/Gi.Joe crossover. Lorenzo is producer of the Transformers and Gi.Joe Franchises and it is a possibility. A 4th instalment of the Transformers franchise is in production while a 3rd instalment of the Gi.Joe franchise is in development. I will be expressing my ideas,my worries,my highs&some things Hasbro should cut out
1. Make it after Transformers 4 and Gi.Joe 3
Introduce our characters first. Firstly Transformers 3 and Gi.Joe Retaliation didn't tease the crossover so why just throw in there suddenly?No reason why. Ripcord,Scarlett and Baroness have a possibility of returning so return Baroness or Ripcord in Gi.Joe 3 and then do Scarlett in the crossover. We need to see characters from the first rather than the second and the third. It could also tie the loose ends. We might have to wait a long time but Hasbro need to be sure these properties are doing well before saying we'll cross them over. Hasbro has got a lot of criticism for recent film Battleship so do they want another failure. Rise of Cobra and Revenge of the Fallen have been panned so is another failure in development?
2. Have a real,depth story
Gi.Joe Retaliation had one flaw,one big flaw:There was no story. Somehow you knew that there was a story but Hollywood had cut it all out because Rise of Cobra had too much story. Have a balance between story and action. A real connected story in the crossover making it smart and exciting. Make sure there is no dorky comedy. Some mild humour like Retaliation but not an overload. Not too much vulgar humour either. Throughout the whole Transformers trilogy there has been vulgar humour even one second the trilogy can not go without profanity,sex or sexy girls and that is the truth. I would like to see some new characters as well featured. As we saw in Retaliation they added characters that haven't been featured on the screen. See Firefly,Jaye and Mouse they are all cartoon characters and comic characters featured in the canon. I would love to see Duke return because they've got alien technology so they could resurrect him. Tatum was likeable in Retaliation for once. So I would love Duke back.
3.Choose the right screenwriter
Robert Orci,Alex Kurstman,Rhett Rhesse,Paul Wernick,Stuart Bettie,Paul Lovett,Ehren Kruger and David Elliot. All writers of the two franchises. I think the formula should be a previous writer of the two franchises and a new writer such as Michael Ardnt,Simon Kenberg,Drew Pearce or Stephen Marcus. We need somebody who can create smart,energetic action sequences while another writer concentrating on character dynamics,relationships and so and then the third writer working on moving along the story and the events. I want a writer such as or maybe David.S.Goyer who wrote Batman Begins with Nolan. He could make the characters, 3D,not paper thin,complicated,make you feel connected and relatable to them but not draw the fun out of them. Pearce would also be a good choice since he is having a hit at screenwriting with writing Mission impossible 5 and box office bomb Iron man 3. He would put out the vulgar ness and add real,pro witt to it all. Rheese would be more on the action while Kurstman or Orci would supply the sci-fi action and Goyer or Pearce doing story.
4. Don't rely on having a sequel
Hasbro might rely on a number of teases to get loads of profit and so. Try and make it not too standalone but varietise with all things you could do. What I liked about the Avengers was that it didn't rely on What's going to happen but what's happening now. It should be like the Avengers really a high octane action adventure team up which shows it's bright colours. Concentrate on what is happening now with the effects of events. I would love to see John Turturro back as Simmons with some connection to the Gi.Joes because he was fired and used to work for an agency. Maybe this is like S.H.E.I.D bringing them together. I do see the Accelerator suits returning as effects have improved and they need strong advanced technology then why not suits?No problem. Well I think they might be going for Pacific Rim with giant robots versus giant alien robots. Save ideas. We need to see something that can top this crossover, save ideas and connections. We need a little tease for the sequel or the two franchises and then leave us excited don't over do all the sequel references. Also in Rise of Cobra there was so many old Joe references like Knowing is half the battle and so. Do not feature those. I would like Bettie just don't overdo the whole references thing. So don't rely on the sequel
5. Make it unique
Don't get all the ideas crammed in one film. Make it spread out but don't make sluggish. Take time but not too much. As Retaliation has got criticised for too much action I did find it a little bit too similar to the A/Team meets the Fast and the Furious franchise apart from the pantomime villains and the destruction of London. Make some original changes and decisions with wit and style not making it a Transformers 5 or Gi.Joe 4. Show connections between characters and make it exciting not generic and out of control. I would like something that is different from the las test trends,unique as I said. I would like the Joes to take control of the airship from Rise of Cobra. Make it fast paced,making it confident in it's own ideas. Hasbro better not be taking bits and pieces from the Transformers and Gi.Joe franchise. Make it witty and please make the music not dull and bland. Jackman's score was as bland as the movie with just small techno beats and none of the energy which the Seven nation army remix had so bring back Silvestri or Brian Tyler.
So this could be great,a dream come true. Maybe I'm asking a bit too much but I hope it won't be as bad as Battleship.
